FARGO – A sign put up outside a contractor supply store here that advertised an “EX WIFE SALE” was taken down Thursday after it attracted controversy.
Callers the store complaining were told it had already been taken down because of negative reaction from the community.”We’re proud to be part of a community that does not tolerate this kind of humor,” one customer said. A man who answered the phone at Joe Rents & Contractors Supply said he was the inventory manager and the sign was his idea. The man, who gave only a first name, Curtis, said he took it down because of “a lot of phone calls.” He said most were positive. He said he stood by the sign. “I really didn’t think it was offensive,” he said.
