WWE star George ‘The Animal ‘ Steele dead at 79
WWE lost another one of their legends today with the passing of George “The Animal” Steel at the age of 79.
Born William James Myers, Steel was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1995 and was one of the best villains in the company’s history. Known for his strength, his hairy physique and “eating” the ring turnbuckles, Steel’s character later evolved and he became one of the company’s most beloved heroes.
In honor of Steel, please enjoy this match from a 1987 episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event between Steel and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Bonus: Please also enjoy Vince McMahon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura as the commentary team, who were really the second best commentary duo next to Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan.
