With the recent heavy rains in places like Raleigh, Pitt County Emergency Management and other agencies are bracing for the threat of flooding this week in eastern North Carolina.
Someone was killed last night after their vehicle was swept into the Contentnea Creek when rising water flooded Highway 58. This is a reminder to be vigliant, and don't try to drive through flooded roadways.
A Flood Warning has been extended until Friday morning for The Cashie River Near Windsor.

Edgecombe County has declared a State of Emergency according to its county website. County leaders say due to heavy rains and the flooding in some areas as of Wednesday, several roads are flooded and have been closed. They noted that Bynum Farm Road, just outside of Pinetops was evacuated. For those who cannot stay with family the American Red Cross has opened a shelter on 500 Davis Street in Tarboro. No pets are allowed at this location.
