The Browns Failed to Botch This Year’s NFL Draft
The NFL Draft is Christmas for Cleveland Browns fans, since they're always in line to get one of the BIGGEST PRIZES. Unfortunately, they usually find a way to turn it into a White Elephant. Like three years ago, when they had two first round picks, and selected Johnny Manziel and Justin Gilbert, two players who AREN'T IN THE NFL ANYMORE.
Anyway, the first round of the 2017 NFL draft went down last night, and this time Cleveland actually got it RIGHT.
At #1, the Browns selected the guy EVERYONE said they should get . . . Myles Garrett, the defensive end out of Texas A&M. After that, the Chicago Bears got a little cute by trading up one spot to get quarterback Mitch Trubisky out of North Carolina. That was a surprising move, and a lot of people thought it was a little too Browns-y. Here's the rest of the top five:
No. 3 San Francisco 49ers: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
No. 4 Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
No. 5 Tennessee Titans: Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
And with the 8th pick, the Carolina Panthers selected Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford, which looks to be a solid choice.
Tonight at 7:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN: The second and third round of "The NFL Draft". The fourth round is tomorrow at Noon.
