Man drowns trying to save teens from rip current
Firefighters confirm a 56-year-old-man died Saturday morning trying to save two teenage girls caught in a rip current in Atlantic Beach. Fire Chief Adam Snyder of the Atlantic Beach Fire Department said a 56-year-old man heard the teenagers crying for help and tried to save them, but got caught in the rip current and drowned.
On Sunday, several swimmers were caught in a rip current near the Double Tree hotel in Atlantic Beach. Before the fire department could arrive, bystanders were able to help.
