The Hackney Distillery and The Washington Noon Rotary have teamed up to raise money to provide wifi hotspots for students in Beaufort County. While Beaufort County Schools have a plan to provide safe access to online schooling to the county’s students, many households do not have access to broadband services. Students have been given a device, and households without a broadband connection (an estimated 200 children impacted) have been given a mobile hotspot, but the cost for that is about $274 for a year so this equates to a budget shortfall of around $55,000.
