The BBC just did a big write-up on a group of guys in England who’ve met up for drinks almost every Thursday since 1968. They’re all in their 80s now. They say they’ve maybe missed 25 Thursdays in 56 years. (They joked that they used to talk about “soccer and sex.” But now it’s “more prostates and pensions.”)…………..A library in Maine is in the news because it’s also doubling as a cat shelter. The folks who run it started taking in cats last year that live at the library until they get adopted. An 82-year-old Marine named David Lorenzo just got his Naval Academy class ring back 54 years after he lost it on a golf course near Pittsburgh. A random golfer found it in the dirt after a storm, and traveled all the way to FL to give it back to him. Lorenzo had his ring on through numerous combat missions during the Vietnam War. The veteran Marine Corps’ fighter pilot even had his ring on when his F-8 Crusader was hit by enemy fire forcing him to eject over Laos in January 1968 − he was rescued a few hours later by U.S. forces. David joked that the ring “survived combat, but couldn’t survive [his] golf game.”
