Good News

A 91-year-old Wyoming man with dementia went missing last week, and no one knew where he was for two days . . . until his wife happened to see him in a local news report from a completely different state. KSL in Salt Lake City did a segment on a rescue mission serving free meals for Thanksgiving, and her husband was sitting at a table in one of the shots.  It turned out he’d hitchhiked 200 miles.  He’s now back home safe and sound……………… An animal welfare officer in Florida crawled 50 feet down a drainage pipe to rescue a kitten.  Someone called it in after they heard the kitten crying, and it was the only way to get to him.  He’ll go up for adoption soon.  For now, they’re calling him “Pipes.”………………..And finally…………..

Sarah Wilson, a Southern CA woman who spent last Thanksgiving in jail, had much nicer accommodations this year.  She went to jail for drugs, and then found out she was pregnant.  But she’s been sober 18 months, and has a healthy nine-month-old son named Ryan.  A non-profit called Holliday’s Helping Hands offers rehab, therapy, and schooling to pregnant women in jail.  Now that she’s out, they surprised her with a fully-furnished apartment just in time for the holidays, and they even had Thanksgiving dinner ready to go.  She says it feels like a whole new beginning.
