So far none of the fish have been told to stop biting for winter. Put on an extra layer of clothing, tell your wife you are going to be late coming home from work and go fishing. Or skip work and go fishing. This fishermasn’s old boss made a weekly habit of that.
The speckled trout and red drum are attacking shrimp imitation lures and live shrimp. Off shore the tuna and wahoo are active. Bottom fishing is great right now for silver and red snapper, trigger fish, and black sea bass. On the fresh water spectrum it’s crappie time, the slabs are schooled up and hungry, the jig and bobber method is out fishing minnows right now. The bass are fattening up for winter, crankbaits are the ticket along with swimming jigs. The bream are hitting on worms. The writer of this report caught a 23 inch pickerel on a minnow at Falls Lake outside of Raleigh recently. It was yummy.
Remember to skip work, take a kid fishing and please pick up your trash.
