Today’s Good News 2-3-25

A professional jump roper named David Fisher used his Double-Dutch ropes to save a teenager who fell through an icy pond in December.  The city of Westfield, Indiana honored him with their Lifesaving Award at a ceremony last week………….The BBC did a story about Donovan Shears, a British guy who got his first cell phone in 1998 when he was 18.  Texting was brand new back then, so he texted “hello” to a random number, just for fun.  He got a text back from a woman named Kirsty, and ended up MARRYING her.  They got married four years later and have two kids now………………..And finally……………

A mass shooting at a splash pad near Detroit last year left nine people injured, including a little boy named Janek Babout.  Thankfully, no one died, but it robbed him of his eyesight. He’s in the news again because of how positive he’s stayed through it all – but also because he’s eight years old and thinks FARTS are hilarious. When he was in the hospital, he was playing with a toy called “Flarp“.  It’s a jar of slime that makes fart noises when you push down on it.  It was the first time he laughed after the shooting. He asked his grandmother if they could use it to cheer up other kids.  So they rounded up 2,400 jars of it and he’s handing them all out to kids in the hospital.
